STORIES - An Interview with Daphne Deckers and her Daughter Emma
Jewellery is more than just diamonds and sparkle. It carries stories, memories, and emotions. It connects generations and keeps love tangible. In the lead-up to Mother's Day, we sat down with Daphne Deckers and her daughter Emma for a personal mother/daughter interview.
What piece of jewellery do you treasure as a memory of her?
Daphne: When Emma was born, I received a beautiful ring from Richard, and of course I cherish that. But Emma once gave me a little necklace with a tiny golden dinosaur on it—and I still think it's so funny!
Emma: I have a beautiful silver necklace from my mother with a tiny diamond ‘E’ on it. She gave it to me when I turned 25 as a keepsake. Whenever I wear it for a special occasion, I immediately think of my mum.
What piece of advice would you like to give her?
Daphne: My grandmother always used to say: “Heaven gives, but you have to catch.” In other words, there are plenty of opportunities, but you have to seize them yourself.
What is the best advice you’ve ever received from your mother?
Emma: “Why worry about the opinion of someone you wouldn’t ask advice from?”
At byJACKY, we believe that every story deserves a piece of jewellery as unique as you are. Together, we’ll help you find the piece that truly reflects who you are.
