STORIES - Settings, more than just something practical
When we think of buying a new piece of jewellery, we quickly think of: what colour gold you like or what gemstone, but not only that is important. Have you ever thought about which setting you like or suits you?
The setting is the way the gemstone is placed in a piece of jewellery. This determines not only the safety and durability of the stone. It also determines the look and character, something equally important.
What is a setting and which ones are there?
A setting is the construction that holds the gemstone in place. It can be subtle and almost invisible, or, on the contrary, an artistic element that enhances the gem. There are different types of settings, each with their own advantages and appearance.
· Classic claw setting (prong setting): lets a lot of light through and emphasises the brilliance of the stone.
· Bezel setting: a modern, sleek look where the stone is enclosed all around, ideal for those who like a minimalist look as well as safety.
· Pavé setting: small gemstones close together, as if the gem has been “irradiated” with light. Our designer Vhernier is very good at this thanks to the two prong setting. This creates a soft carpet of diamonds.
Invisible setting: the stones appear to float, something that requires a refined piece of craftsmanship.
The right setting for your style
Every person is unique, and so is style. The setting of a piece of jewellery can make a statement: bold, romantic or elegant. At byJACKY, we look beyond standard; we look at you. Who are you? What do you want to radiate? How do you wear your jewellery in everyday life?
An active lifestyle requires a safe and durable setting. A striking evening piece, on the other hand, may be more playful and daring.
